FAQ's
What does you, the agency, being an REC member, mean for me?
James and Associates Limited is 100% committed to providing its clients and candidates with the highest level of service. As part of our commitment we felt it would be most appropriate to join the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, our trade body. This guarantees a certain level of quality, professionalism and compliance which will, on an on-going basis, be independently monitored by the REC.
What level of professional insurance cover do you provide ? ..... are there any exclusions ?
All of our candidates are covered by our own insurance cover with the current levels being :
- Professional Indemnity £5million
- Public Liability £5million
- Employers Liability £10million
There are no exceptions to this, both Limited Companies and PAYE candidates are covered. This is not the case with all agencies and you should always check and request written proof.
If I wish to terminate a contract early are there any penalties ?
No, you may terminate a contract at a minutes notice. However, out of fairness to the candidate we would ask for a minimum of one weeks notice. In the case of a particularly long-standing relationship, a month's notice may actually be more appropriate.
We have a post that requires the candidate to have a CRB check can you do this ?
Yes, We are able to apply for CRB checks. It should be noted that there is currently a wait of approx 2-3 weeks for a standard disclosure and 4-8 weeks for an enhanced disclosure. If we are required to carry out a CRB check then this remains the property of James and Associates and cannot be viewed by any 3rd party including the client. This is covered by s124 of part V of the Police Act 1997. We do not charge for CRB Checks.
However, if you require evidence that a CRB check has been completed we can provide you with a scanned image of the top portion of the Disclosure as long as no disclosed information appears. Due to a rise in unnecessary CRB checks being carried out we require the client to request this in writing stating the reasons why they believe a CRB check is required.
If I want to employ the candidate directly is there a charge?
Absolutely not. We do not charge temp to perm fees. We will instead agree a period of extended hire after which the candidate will be passed to your payroll directly with no other fees or charges to pay.
