Animal Health National Indicator (NI190)

Officers competence

• trained to an appropriate level to Inspect premises, particularly high-risk premises
• Assess and risk rate premises.
• Understanding of data Input onto AMES
• Advise businesses and the public on animal health issues
• Enforce legislation and identify breeches
• Inspect hauliers’ records and welfare of animals delivered
• Liaise with neighbouring Local Authorities and Animal Health
• Inspect premises for welfare of animals (Transport) (England) order 2006


Profile
One 4 hour visit per week to a high throughput slaughter house to undertake WATO inspections for animal health and inspection of movement records. 

Hours of inspection 16:00  to 20:00

Checking animal movement permits / cattle passports / WATO inspections of vehicles and animals in transit. Completion of AMES inspection form and return of completed form weekly to LBH. LBH to enter data on AMES. 

Visit 1 high risk farm:  No extra time is allowed for this activity, time will be taken from one of the weekly WATO inspections at the slaughterhouse.
